Birgit Benz appointed Head of Fund Management at FOM Invest

• Experienced fund manager with many years of expertise and leadership qualities

Heidelberg, June 30, 2021 - FOM Invest, the AIF capital management company of the FOM Real Estate Group, has recruited Birgit Benz as Head of Fund Management. The graduate in business administration will strengthen the Investment Management division of the FOM Group as of July 1. Birgit Benz will be responsible for the management of existing and planned funds in Germany. With her appointment, FOM Invest completes its management team, which in addition to the managing directors Prof. Reinhard Walter, Dr. Bernd Wieberneit and Prof. Dr. Ulrich Nack also includes Roy Brümmer as Head of Real Estate Investment and Marco Häußler as Head of Fund Operations.

Dr. Bernd Wieberneit, Managing Director of FOM Invest, comments: "With Birgit Benz, we are gaining a leader with proven expertise in the field of special real estate funds and a broad network throughout Germany. She is the ideal person for the expansion of our fund business, which we will drive forward in the further course of the year. Within six months, we have already built up assets under management of around EUR 150 million. We are well on the way to achieving our goal of one billion euros in assets under management within three to five years."

As an educated urban planner and real estate business economist, Birgit Benz has many years of expertise in the management of special real estate funds and worked for almost 25 years at various asset managers in the real estate business, including more than ten years at various DWS companies. For seven years, she was responsible for existing real estate special funds as well as the development of new fund portfolios. Most recently, she held management positions there for three years.
